Manager, Commercial Property Accounting

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Model: Hybrid (2-3 days in office)

Our client is growing their commercial real estate portfolio and is looking for a Manager, Commercial Property Accounting to build and lead their commercial accounting platform. This role is ideal for someone hands-on, process-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, build-phase environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and enhance commercial/retail property accounting processes and reporting.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of the Yardi Commercial module.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Manage CAM/TMI, property tax, and utility recoveries.
  • Support lease interpretation, rent rolls, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Train internal teams on accounting processes and system use.
  • Collaborate closely with property management, operations, and asset management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial or retail property accounting experience, including CAM/TMI recoveries.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience improving accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of HST on commercial leases; IFRS/ASPE familiarity.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • CPA and Yardi experience are strong assets.
