Job Overview

The Finance Analyst will play a key role in supporting Sagewise's mortgage and investment operations. This position requires an individual with a strong accounting background, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, analyzing portfolio performance, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the mortgage and investment portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Mortgage & Payment Administration

  • Process EFTs for payment collection and payouts to investors, verifying against prior-month records and exception cases.
  • Follow up on missed payments with customers, brokers, and solicitors.
  • Facilitate default management by coordinating with legal teams, customers, brokers, and internal staff.
  • Assist with mortgage renewals, including fee collection and communication with all parties.
  • Prepare and complete post-funding checklists by reviewing legal and underwriting documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Discharge mortgages upon verification of legal documents, ensuring proper filing and record keeping.
  • Upload, organize, and maintain mortgage-related documents in digital filing systems.

Portfolio & Financial Analysis

  • Analyze portfolio data and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Generate regular reports on investors, borrowers, NSF, renewals, and default mortgages.
  • Provide accurate investor and broker statements on request.
  • Support CEO/COO with financial projects including cost negotiations, property reviews, and rental structure analysis.

Operational Support & Communication

  • Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping for all financial and mortgage-related transactions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting financial/mortgage software (e.g., Automator) and liaise with service providers when necessary.
  • Attend meetings (virtual/in-person) and assist customers visiting the office.
  • Support team members across departments with administrative and operational needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: 2– 4 years of experience in accounting, banking, mortgage administration, or portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage operations, financial reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Extreme attention to detail with the ability to review complex financial and legal documents accurately.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage competing priorities under deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Excel, financial reporting tools, and document management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare clear financial reports.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members, clients, brokers, and legal professionals.
  • Knowledge of AML/Compliance requirements in financial services is an asset.
