Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and outgoing Cashier/Sales associate to join our retail team on a part time, permanent basis. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, managing sales transactions, assisting customers with product selections, and some daily/weekly paperwork. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be organized, and have a passion for pets, pet products & exceptional customer interactions.

Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases including lifting bags of food or boxes of raw food up to 25lbs. during your work shift
  • Interact with pets (dogs & cats) that are brought in with their owner-customers by feeding treats and taking pictures of the animals to post to our Instagram
  • Operate POS systems efficiently for cash handling and transaction processing
  • Maintain organized merchandising displays and continually keep a clean store
  • Handle customer inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism
  • Some weekly paperwork
  • Ensure excellent customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales area

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
  • Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service preferred
  • Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic math skills
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail in merchandising and cleanliness
  • Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during shifts
  • Ability to receive and put away our delivered inventory both in store and in our freezer
  • Professional phone etiquette and excellent customer service orientation
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to fast-paced settings

This role is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy engaging with customers & dogs, learning product information, and contributing to a vibrant retail atmosphere.

Position is Tuesday-Saturday from 9:45am-2:45pm but the ideal candidate will have flexibility in the days and hours they can work to cover busy sale periods as well as cover staff vacation times.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $18.75 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
