Our Client
Our client is a dynamic and entrepreneurial Canadian wealth management firm with more than $14 billion in assets under management. Operating through a diversified and integrated platform—spanning a CIRO dealer, investment counsel/portfolio management firm, asset manager, U.S. registered investment advisor, and insurance entity, the organization delivers holistic financial solutions across North America.
Pursuing an active acquisition strategy, the firm continues to scale rapidly, integrating multiple businesses each year while maintaining an agile, client-centric culture. Its leadership team combines institutional experience with an entrepreneurial mindset, fostering a collaborative, performance-oriented environment that empowers professionals to shape the firm's continued growth.
Position Overview
Currently, the firm is seeking a Director of Operations to lead core wealth management operations across processing, advisor support, fee administration, and estates/reporting. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will manage a team of 20 professionals and serve as the firm's primary liaison with custodial partners. The successful candidate will focus on optimizing systems and workflows, driving scalability, and strengthening governance as the firm continues its rapid growth.
This is an attractive opportunity to join a high-growth, private-equity-backed firm at a pivotal stage of expansion; shape the modernization of a multi-entity operating platform; and work alongside an entrepreneurial leadership team with national reach.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all core operational functions, including processing, advisor support, estates/reporting, and fee administration.
- Serve as the firm's primary point of escalation for custodial matters and maintain day-to-day relationships with major custodians.
- Implement and enhance policies, systems, and procedures to strengthen operational performance and client experience.
- Partner with technology, finance, and front-office teams to align operations with firmwide strategy.
- Oversee integration and process standardization related to acquisitions and platform growth.
- Drive automation initiatives and process improvements in collaboration with technology teams.
- Establish KPIs, manage performance metrics, and foster a culture of accountability and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with CIRO and ICPM regulatory requirements and stay abreast of industry best practices.
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services operations, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success managing operations within CIRO-regulated environments; ICPM experience an asset.
- Deep familiarity with custodians such as National Bank, Aviso, and Raymond James.
- Demonstrated experience in scaling teams and integrating operations during M&A activity.
- Strong technology fluency (Power BI, advanced Excel) and exposure to wealth-tech platforms such as PureFees, D1G1T, Croesus, and Conquest.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change-management capabilities, with a collaborative and client-focused mindset.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
