The Opportunity:

Scope of the position

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Distribution Centre Manager will be responsible for the management of the distribution center to ensure that the company's internal and external customer service standards and objectives are fully met.  This position will also perform DC duties and functions, as required, to support inventory integrity, order processing – picking, packing, staging, shipping and general maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and manage product distribution activities to achieve company goals.
• Develop continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices with team members.
• Implement new distribution strategies to obtain profitability and improve the efficiency of operations.
• Analyze existing distribution procedures and recommend improvements.
• Monitor and manage inventories at the distribution center.
• Identify appropriate resources and assign workload and schedules to them.
• Oversee daily operations of team members and provide assistance whenever needed.
• Recruit, reward, and coach distribution center team members as required.
• Perform basic administration duties and maintain clear and complete accounting records.
• Provide outstanding customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Manage storage and handling of inventories in the DC.
• Prepare budgets and manage expenses within budgets.
• Manage and recruit carriers to perform distributions in the assigned routes.
• Develop and manage appropriate KPI-s and scorecards to ensure operational oversight.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5-10 years of leadership experience preferably in a wholesale/distribution environment.
• Previous management and customer service experience.
• Sound understanding of Health and Safety regulations and culture.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Acts with ownership, a sense of urgency and demonstrated initiative.
• A strong work ethic, reliable and dependable.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency.
• Be energetic and self-motivated.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
• Maintain a business-like manner at all times.
• Dedicated to continuous improvement.
• Experience working with RF scanners.
• Understand the need to prioritize work schedules to meet company goals.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Is open to feedback and takes responsibility for personal development.
• Must have flexibility in their work schedule as there may be a need to work extra hours on evenings and weekends occasionally.
• Experience managing a facility through a start-up would be beneficial.
