Position Summary
Pharmacy Technician Trainee, Pharmacy Services:
In this position, you will contribute to the operation of the Centre through the day to day maintenance of essential support services (under the supervision of assigned Staff Pharmacist and overall supervision by the Manager of the Centre). You're also a great relationship builder, communicate effectively with peers across the entire organization and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. You are highly organized, have great interpersonal skills and adapt well in a dynamic environment. You are able to adapt and prioritize workloads. You are able to work well as a part of an inter-professional team. The position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Perform inventory management (purchasing; receiving and stock filing responsibilities)
• Processing Prescriptions (counting, labelling and related filling responsibilities)
• Perform information gathering & prescription data entry
• Perform extemporaneous compounding
• Perform cash register functions and handles cash
• Provide professional and courteous customer service

Qualifications

• Completed or in the process of completing an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
• Certified or in the process of becoming a regulated Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
• Experience in retail pharmacy
• Accurate and efficient typing skills
• Proficient in the use of Kroll Pharmacy software and ability to support basic trouble-shooting
• Good knowledge of the operation and standards of practice for Pharmacy Technicians in hospital setting
