The Faculty of Science at University of
Ontario Institute of Technology (Ontario Tech) invites applications from
qualified individuals for a teaching focused position in Computer Science at
the Assistant Teaching Professor level. Applicants must hold a M.Sc.
degree in Computer Science or related field; a Ph.D. and/or industry experience
will be considered an asset. Applicants who demonstrate teaching excellence and
innovation, and a commitment to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion
(EDI) are encouraged to apply. This
position is subject to budgetary approval and is scheduled to commence on July
1, 2026.
Ontario Tech advances the discovery and
application of knowledge through a technology-enriched learning environment and
innovative programs in response to the needs of students and the evolving 21st century workplace.
In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment, Ontario
Tech seeks faculty members who will explore and develop effective pedagogical
applications of technology in Computer Science education. The successful applicant will be expected to
strive for teaching excellence, which can include some pedagogical
research. The Computer Science program
at Ontario Tech aims to provide students with experiential, active, and knowledge-based
learning experiences. Teaching
responsibilities will include the delivery of undergraduate courses and may
also include the development and oversight of hands-on labs. Expertise in
teaching systems programming, operating systems, and computer networks would be
considered an asset.
In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the growth,
development, and outreach efforts of Faculty of Science programs by
participating on governance committees, helping to develop and support
innovative initiatives, and engaging in other activities in support of the
Faculty and Ontario Tech. The candidate
is expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and
to model those skills in their own teaching in the university's web-centric and
mobile learning environment.
Teaching Faculty
members follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service, and 10% Other Commitments
workload each year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty AssociationUOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
