Our client, an independently owned distributor of fasteners, abrasives, cutting tools, safety supplies, welding consumables, and supply & service solutions, is looking for a full-time Outside Sales Representative to join their progressive and results-driven team in Acheson, Alberta. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and bringing fresh ideas and improvements to business practices.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role requires the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment, maintaining fairness, respect, and integrity in all situations. The ideal candidate will have strong passion for seeking new business, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving while adapting to changing priorities. The Outside Sales Representative will demonstrate sound judgment, with a commitment to high-quality work, and the professionalism needed to represent the company effectively in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of fasteners, abrasives, cutting tools, safety supplies, welding consumables, and related services, providing expert recommendations to meet client needs.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales targets and quotas through effective territory management, account planning, and solution-based selling.
  • Plan and execute sales calls, client visits, and territory coverage efficiently to maximize market penetration and customer engagement.
  • Address customer inquiries, resolve issues promptly, and ensure high levels of client satisfaction, acting as a trusted advisor for product selection and technical guidance.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs, providing regular reports on sales activity, forecasts, and opportunities to management.
  • Work closely with inside sales, service, logistics, and operations teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and excellent customer experience.
  • Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards while representing the company in all client interactions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Business or Marketing or equivalent industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience in Industrial & Construction Supply Industry is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Sales Representative, or similar role.
  • Comfortable building a new book of business, including establishing new client relationships, identifying opportunities, and developing long-term customer partnerships.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and software.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a customer-service focused role.
  • Able to lift, slide and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs.
  • Clean driver's abstract, driver's license are a requirement.
