Job Overview
The Technical Sales Engineer is a hybrid role bridging sales and technical expertise. The individual will work alongside the sales team, acting as the primary technical resource to support the sales cycle for prospective clients. This includes analyzing customer technical needs, crafting custom solutions using our suite of MSP services, delivering technical presentations, and demonstrating the value of our solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical knowledge across IT infrastructure, networking, cloud, and cybersecurity, combined with excellent communication and customer-facing skills. This role is vital for building trust with clients and ensuring that proposed solutions align with their business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales Support: Act as the technical expert during sales calls and meetings to answer complex questions and address technical objections from potential clients.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer business challenges and translate those needs into a comprehensive, tailored technical solution using the MSP's service portfolio.
  • Presentations and Demonstrations: Create and deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations that clearly communicate the value of the proposed services.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the technical sections of proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Technical Assessments: Perform pre-sales technical assessments and feasibility studies for prospective clients to ensure successful service implementation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the implementation, support, and engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition from sales to service delivery.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay current on market trends, competitor offerings, and new technologies. Provide feedback to the product and service development teams to enhance offerings.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients and channel partners, serving as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, Cisco) are highly preferred.
  • Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales or technical sales engineer role, preferably within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.

  • Proven experience selling and presenting complex enterprise solutions to C-level executives and technical stakeholders.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of core MSP service areas, including cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), cybersecurity solutions, networking, and IT infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools, ticketing systems, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a customer-centric approach.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear criminal record check.
  • Physically able to perform all listed job duties.
  • Work performed primarily in an office environment.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone.
  • This role involves working in a variety of environments and includes regular interaction with staff and members of the public.
  • This position is eligible for the Mileage Reimbursement Program, as it requires onsite visits to meet with clients.
  • Various shifts at a fast pace to meet service level requirements of our clients.
  • Ability to attend offsite work events as required (e.g. job fairs, trade events).
