Vancouver BC VX X, Canada MINIMAKERS Full time

MiniMakers – Curriculum Developer

Supporting the youth of today to be the makers of tomorrow, MiniMakers is an educational centre focused on developing valuable life skills involving a variety of age-appropriate and safe creative activities. Turning their imaginations into reality, our makers use child-safe woodworking equipment, various production tools (including software design tools), and a wide range of decorative approaches to produce both practical and artistic items. The skills they develop support growth in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) while also building an "I can do it" mentality with real-world outcomes. Our makers build creativity, confidence, and skill, all the while having a lot of fun

The Job:

We are looking for an individual to help us in our mission of educating the next generation of Canadian Makers. Our ideal Curriculum Developer would have a balance of classroom teaching experience, leadership skills, creativity, and strong writing skills. As a Curriculum Developer, you will be spearheading the creation of educational assets such as lesson plans, event themes, and classroom activities for several studios and outpost locations. As a Curriculum Developer, you will be the defining factor in shaping children's education through our various program options.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and design high-quality curriculum content that meets British Columbia educational standards.
  • Develop curriculum for several locations, including H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Vancouver Aquarium, and studios.
  • Prepare training materials for instructors to ensure they are prepared to deliver the material to students.
  • Proven experience in instructional design within an educational setting.
  • Create lesson plans for multiple program offerings such as seasonal camps, Pro D days, birthday parties, and after-school programs.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, and partners regarding curriculum updates and best practices.
  • Have strong organizational skills and a proven track record of delivering lessons in an educational setting.
  • Update and improve lessons that are out of date in order to ensure their best quality.
  • Knowledge of point of sale systems and customer service skills are preferred.
  • Utilize tools such as Google Suite to create proprietary curriculum and engaging instructional materials.

Requirements

  • Verifiable Teachers Certificate
  • Strong leadership skills in an educational setting and on multiple team levels.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • Experience with training development for educators or staff is preferred.
  • Familiarity with classroom dynamics and teaching methodologies is a plus.
