Job Description:
At Epiq AI Labs, we develop an AI-driven platform for legal discovery and knowledge management. The platform supports law firms and legal service providers in managing litigation, processing documents, and extracting insights from large datasets.

The Role
Backend Software Engineers design and build scalable, high-performance systems that power our AI and data-processing capabilities. You will work across the product lifecycle, from design to deployment, and collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and subject-matter experts.

Typical work includes designing and maintaining services, optimizing performance, and building APIs that support data-intensive legal workflows.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for AI-driven legal applications.
  • Write and review code following best practices and high-quality standards.
  • Build and maintain APIs for frontend integration and external services.
  • Optimize applications for scalability and low-latency performance.
  • Develop data structures and algorithms for processing large-scale datasets.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve user workflows and product reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Masters degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining backend systems in production.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, distributed system architecture, and API design.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to incorporate feedback effectively

The Compensation range for this role is 110,000 to 155,000 CAD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus.
