Finance Desk Java Lead Developer

The Finance Desk Java Lead Developer is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team.

The NAM Finance Desk Technology team is part of Markets Treasury and Finance organization within Citi's Markets Technology (MTFD) group. The Team works closely with the Citi Global Finance Desk and focused on FI and Repo trading activity. The suite of Finance Desk applications provides position management, trade capture, electronic trading, market risk processing and reporting. This is supported by a mixed technology environment consisting of client-server applications, developed in Java, Angular and C#, with services running on Linux servers and Cloud Containers. This is an excellent opportunity for the candidate to work with global Citi engineering teams and interact closely with Finance Desk traders.

The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements

• Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards

• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint

• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals

• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions

• Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

• Develop a deep knowledge of Finance Desk Perfect Inventory Flows, Architecture and Infrastructure.

• Guide team and provide L3 coverage for the NAM Finance Desk support queries.

• Lead the Engineering effort in NAM particularly with Tracing, Logging and Metrics toolsets.

Technical Skills Required:

• Very Strong Java, Spring Boot Development and Troubleshooting Capabilities.

• Experience with caching solutions like Apache Ignite or Gemfire is a must.

• Experience with middle layer messaging services like JMS, MQ, EMS or Kafka.

• Knowledge of Open Telemetry, Grafana Tempo and Elastic Observability tools is a must.

• Strong at RDBMS concepts and experience with Oracle or MS SQL.

• Cloud experience with Micro Services and Containerization is a big plus.

• Test driven development and to adhere with firm's min development standards.

• Solid experience with CI/CD tools, Agile Development and Software life cycle.

• Experience with Python or Generative AI tools or Machine Learning is a definite plus.

• Experience with Unix or Linux scripting.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years of relevant experience in Applications Development or systems analysis role

• Extensive experience system analysis and in programming of software applications

• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development

• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate

• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

• Knowledge of Fixed Income Trade Processing, Funding and Risk management.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

• Master's degree preferred
