Job Description:
Key marketing leader to the business on all aspects of corporate sponsorship, influencing the business strategy, as well as ensuring that the TD brand is protected and delivered in customer experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and implement a sport sponsorship strategy that aligns with TD's brand and sponsorship objectives and drives measurable ROI.
- Build and nurture relationships with stakeholders across leagues, teams, agents, agencies and internal partners.
- Manage sponsorship assets across sport sponsorships through annual plans, including media, brand and hospitality assets.
- Inspire and deliver exceptional insight-driven creative to increate brand awareness, affinity, consideration and favorability.
- Partner with business units to identify needs and opportunities to develop measurable integrations.
- Establish governance frameworks and reporting mechanisms to track usage, impact, and compliance.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure sponsorship practices meet regulatory standards.
- Support planning and execution of marquee sponsorship events, including executive hosting and One TD activations.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on sponsorship performance, insights, and optimization opportunities.
CUSTOMER
- Customer Insight & Trends; Coach team to understand & synthesize consumer trends, identifying research gaps and planning market research, interpreting consumer information for your business, anticipating customer opportunities, generating & applying customer insights.
- Build and Protect the Brand; Identify the brand's strengths and weaknesses, recognize the drivers and indicators of brand health and recommend corrective actions. Apply the Brand House to all aspects of marketing and be the key resource for the business on the brand. Understand end-to-end customer journeys and support the business to deliver the brand through customer experience.
- Influence Business Strategy; Provide thought leadership, strategic advice to executives within the business, be the voice of the customer and a trusted advisor to business partners for all marketing and customer activities. Build and maintain close working relationships with key business partners to understand and influence business strategic priorities, and direction, ensuring that business objectives can be converted into effective marketing plans or client strategies.
- Sport Sponsorship Plan Owner: Develop and implement a sponsorship strategy that aligns with TD's brand and business objectives and drives measurable ROI. Set the tone and ensure the integrity of the approved Plan is being delivered in a transparent way. Constantly evaluate and recommend changes to improve business impact via marketing investment.
SHAREHOLDER
- Work closely with key business leaders to develop sponsorship plans, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD's operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
- Plan and execute strategic activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly
- Execute the sponsorship plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
- Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures, meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
- Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement
- Improve or create new processes for the organization, with a medium to longer term impact
- Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices related to own area of expertise
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high-risk transactions / activities as necessary
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
- Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

- Develops annual and/or long-term plans for own area and influences plans well beyond area managed
- Develop a team of marketers in all aspects of the marketing competencies and act as resource and mentor to others
- Responsible for management of the overall team providing both leadership and guidance
- Set targets and objectives for the team, and deliver results
- Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
- Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees and ensure performance management activities are undertaken and provide regular input into employee assessments and development plans
- Lead the process of setting performance objectives for the team; track, monitor and effectively address and/or reward performance in a timely manner
- Manage employees in compliance with all human resources policies, procedures and guidelines of conduct
- Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams
- Support an environment where teams freely escalate business challenges; facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes
- Recruit for all hires to ensure a highly diverse, qualified workforce to achieve business objectives
- Establish and foster a cohesive team; promote a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourage the team to achieve common goals and objectives
- Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
BREADTH & DEPTH
- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Oversee and lead a large and/or highly complex and diverse portfolio for an area of significant complexity, scope or risk, while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results
- Leadership, approval and oversight of marketing execution for all projects within portfolio, appropriate governance and stakeholder approvals are delivered
- Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
- Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
- Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals etc.)
- Set operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals
- Focus on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or more)
- Generally, reports an executive role
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required
- 10+ years relevant experience
