SOCIAL SERVICES ADDICTION WORKER

(Women's Treatment)

Monarch Recovery Services provides support to people needing assistance to be able to participate in treatment and programs related to substance use. We are seeking 1 fulltime/contract Social Services Addiction Worker to work 8 hour scheduled shifts at the Women's Treatment Program on prominently day shift with the possibility of evenings, weekends and overnight.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and monitor clients to ensure their safety and well-being while on duty.

  2. Provide emotional support and grounding to clients as needed.

  3. Participate in group meetings to address "house issues" as required.

  4. Report any problems related to the residence to the Program Director.

  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client case notes and complete daily documentation, as required on EMHware and M365.

  6. Respond promptly to emergencies and crisis situations, notifying the appropriate management as soon as possible.

  7. Assist with client admissions and discharges in accordance with program policies and procedures when needed.

  8. Encourage and facilitate activities that support clients' recovery processes, as approved by the treatment team.

  9. Deliver program components as requested by the Program Director.

10.Foster positive working relationships within the community.

11.Maintain knowledge of all Agency policies and procedures and report any concerns to the Program Director.

12.Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.

13.Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge in addictions and related fields.

14.Complete monthly check-ins with the Program Director and yearly Performance Review.

15.Conduct room searches and drug testing as needed.

16.Participate in team debriefings at the beginning and end of each shift.

17.Supervise and document all prescription and over-the-counter medication administration, adhering to the 5 Rights of Medication (right client, right drug, right dose, right time, right route) to ensure therapeutic support for clients.

18.Maintain current certifications in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, NVCI, MHFA, and Food Handling.

19.Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, and/or CEO.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily day shift; with the possibility of afternoon, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.

  • Work performed in a bed-based treatment setting.

  • May involve exposure to challenging behaviors or crisis situations and support individual by attending appointments and medical intervention where needed.

  • Standing, walking, and light lifting may be required.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in Social Services or equivalent post-secondary education, addictions training or experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working in addictions, mental health, or residential care preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of harm reduction, abstinent based recovery-oriented models, and trauma-informed care.

  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and following agency procedures.

  • Proficiency in electronic documentation and use of information systems (e.g., EMHware, M365).

  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Job Specifications

  • Hours of Work: Full-time position – 40 hours a week, Part-time position – under 32 hours a week, Casual positions – irregular scheduled hours

  • Must be able to work afternoons and/or nights, as well as weekends

Days: 8:00 to 16:00 Afternoons 16:00 to 24:00. Overnight 24:00 to 08:00

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and insurable driving record.
  • Current CPIC (Criminal Record Check) required.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, NVCI, and MHFA and Safe Food Handle
