Are you an experienced Commercial Property Accountant ready to take ownership of a dynamic commercial portfolio?

Your New Employer

A leading commercial real estate investment and management firm in downtown Toronto is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their growing finance team. This privately held company manages a diverse and high-quality portfolio of office properties across the GTA and has built a strong reputation for operational excellence, innovation, and integrity. The organization's culture is collaborative and people-focused, providing a supportive environment where finance professionals are empowered to take ownership, grow their technical skills, and contribute to meaningful business outcomes. With steady growth, new technology integrations, and a leadership team committed to continuous improvement, this is an ideal opportunity for a motivated accounting professional looking for stability, exposure, and long-term career development within commercial real estate.

Your New Role

As the Senior Property Accountant, you'll play a key role in managing the financial reporting and analysis for a portfolio of commercial properties. Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of Property Accounting, you'll be responsible for full-cycle property accounting, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and supporting schedules. You'll assist with capital project reconciliations and year-end audit files, prepare annual CAM and tax billing adjustments, and ensure accurate and timely reporting for owners and property managers. You'll also monitor cash flow, prepare monthly HST reconciliations, and support the property management team with financial analysis and variance explanations. This role offers hands-on exposure to property operations, budgeting, and system enhancements, providing valuable insight into the commercial real estate finance function.

What Sets You Apart

You are a technically strong and detail-oriented accounting professional with a minimum of three years of experience in commercial property accounting. You thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to your work. You have advanced proficiency in Excel and experience using Yardi or similar property management systems, and you're confident in your ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. You hold a degree or diploma in accounting or a related field and are either pursuing or have completed your CPA designation. Your collaborative mindset, professional communication skills, and natural curiosity to improve processes will make you a valued contributor to the team.

What You Can Expect

You'll join a respected real estate company that values professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. The environment is hybrid, with four days spent in the downtown Toronto office each week. You'll be part of a high-performing finance team that encourages knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous learning. The leadership team is approachable and genuinely invested in supporting professional development, offering tuition reimbursement for CPA studies or other continuing education initiatives. The company provides a fair market base salary, a comprehensive benefits program, a defined profit-sharing plan with a 2% employer match, paid sick leave, and three weeks of paid vacation. Employees also participate in an annual performance bonus program and enjoy a workplace culture that emphasizes collaboration, growth, and long-term career stability within the real estate sector.
