About the Role
We're looking for a highly motivated
Engineer
to join our
automotive OEM
client on a
new model weld project team
in Cambridge. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a
fast-paced, hands-on environment
, working directly on the production floor with cross-functional teams.
You'll play a key role in
supporting equipment installations, trials, and change points
, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Strong communication, adaptability, and a proactive, floor-based approach are essential to succeed in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a project lead on the floor, working closely with
Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering
teams. - Manage zone PFS from trial builds and coordinate weekend work related to equipment change points.
- Oversee
project management
for sourced equipment such as lift assists, installation jigs, and backup jigs. - Maintain schedules, manage costs, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Prepare
equipment specification documents
for the bid process. - Collaborate with vendors on
design, digital reviews, installation, commissioning, and issue resolution
. - Conduct
equipment buyoffs, checklists, risk assessments, and Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs)
. - Support
weekend or shift work
as needed to align with production and installation schedules.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
(or equivalent experience). - Proven experience in
automotive or fast-paced manufacturing
environments. - Strong
project management
skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities on the floor. - Excellent
communication and collaboration
skills across departments and levels. - Weld shop
or
assembly experience
is an asset but not required. - Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, including occasional weekend or shift work.
