About the Role
The Director of Operations is a senior leadership position within our multi-divisional safety services organization. This role is responsible for shaping and executing the operational strategy across all regions and divisions, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the business.
Working closely with executive leadership and divisional leaders, the Director of Operations translates organizational strategy into disciplined operational execution. This role provides oversight of core operational functions, people, systems, and infrastructure—acting as a trusted business partner and a central point of accountability for operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the execution of operational strategy across all divisions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and growth objectives.
- Provide enterprise-level oversight of day-to-day operations while maintaining focus on long-term scalability and performance.
- Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and leadership decision-making as a member of the senior leadership team.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop operations support and administrative teams, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance metrics for operational teams.
- Build operational capability and leadership bench strength to support organizational growth.
Process, Systems & Infrastructure
- Oversee and optimize operational processes, including purchasing, inventory management, scheduling, workflow optimization, vendor management, and capacity planning.
- Ensure consistent and effective use of the company's technology stack (TMS, CMS, Zoho, and related systems), driving adoption, compliance, and data integrity.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and operational excellence across regions.
Facilities, Vendors & Risk Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of company facilities to ensure they are safe, functional, and aligned with operational needs.
- Lead vendor management initiatives, including vendor selection, performance management, and cost control.
- Identify operational risks and implement controls to support service reliability and business continuity.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with divisional leaders to monitor key performance indicators, including productivity, utilization, and service delivery metrics.
- Drive accountability across the organization by ensuring commitments, deadlines, and performance expectations are consistently met.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and operational projects with measurable outcomes.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service quality, and scalability.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in operations, business management, or administration within a multi-site or multi-division organization.
- Proven experience leading managers and operational teams with accountability for enterprise-level outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in developing operational strategy, improving processes, and driving organizational efficiency.
- Strong experience in vendor management and facilities oversight.
- Hands-on experience with business technology platforms (TMS, CMS, Zoho, or similar systems), with a focus on governance, adoption, and data accuracy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in service-based and/or safety-related industries is considered an asset.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational involvement when required.
