Groundsperson / Labourer

including rail intermodal terminal operations, container and chassis repair
depots, mechanical services, welding, and associated repair services.

Position Available: Groundsperson/Labourer (Full-Time,
Permanent)

Location: Calgary, AB

Role Responsibilities:

·       Conduct
pre-trips on heated and refrigerated containers, following customer
instructions and accurately reporting fuel and temperature readings.

·       Perform
inventory checks using specialized software (Oasis).

·       Complete
and document pre-trip analysis of yard equipment using tablets.

·       Inspect
all equipment interchanged by rail at the terminal for damages/defects.

·       Carefully
handle IBCs (inter box connectors) on railcars, including unlocking/locking
containers.

·       Operate
service vehicles in tight areas within the terminal.

·       Undertake
physical duties as required, such as standing, bending, lifting, and climbing
on railcars.

·       Adhere
to all safety procedures and regulations.

·       Perform
any additional tasks as required by the role.

• Apply, remove, and
  assist with the identification of Blue Signal and derail track protection.

Qualifications:

·       Valid
Class 5 Driver's License.

·       Ability
to work on a rotating 2-week, 12-hour shift schedule, (nights)

·       Comfortable
working outdoors in all weather conditions.

·       Clear
communication skills in English, especially over the radio.

·       Steel
toe boots with a minimum 8" rise and no exemptions from PPE requirements of hard hats, high visibility vests, and safety glasses.

·       Basic
computer skills and proficiency with iPads.

·       Capable
of working under minimal supervision.

·       Demonstrated
safe and efficient workplace practices.

·       Strong
team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability
to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

·       Attention
to detail and ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 75
pounds

·       Successful
completion of a company-paid pre-employment screening test and background
check.
