Manage the ServiceNow Discovery tool to automatically map IT assets and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) across all of the geographies where the bank operates. Key responsibilities include configuring discovery infrastructure, managing schedules and credentials, developing and maintaining discovery patterns for on-premises and cloud resources, troubleshooting discovery issues, supporting CMDB data accuracy, and collaborate with internal BNS teams and external vendors to implement Discovery and other related tools. This role requires strong technical skills in networking, server administration, scripting, and a deep understanding of IT infrastructure and the ServiceNow platform.

Is this role right for you?

  • Configure and Manage Discovery Infrastructure: Set up, manage, and maintain mid-servers, schedules, credentials, and other configuration settings to discover IT assets
  • Develop and Maintain Patterns, probes, sensors and others: Create and customize Discovery Patterns to identify and classify Configuration Items (CIs) and their relationships across various IT environments, including cloud resources
  • Code development skills, strong knowledge and hands-on experience: capable of developing JavaScript code to fix Discovery related issues; knowledge of other languages desirable (SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Investigate and resolve discovery errors, such as those related to permissions, access, or probe\patten failures, and address issues with discovery schedules and data discrepancies
  • Support CMDB Accuracy: Monitor and ensure the discovery process effectively populates the CMDB with accurate and complete information on servers, applications, other devices, and software
  • Monitor and Report: Create and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor health, performance, and completion of discovery jobs
  • Collaborate with IT Teams: Work closely with internal BNS teams (network, security, application teams and others) to ensure correct access, permissions, and to support the accuracy of data discovered
  • Collaborate with vendors: Work closely with external vendors on the implementation and deployment of Discovery related tools to augment the CMDB and to ensure CMDB health
  • Governance and Documentation: Develop and maintain governance processes, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of the Discovery solution

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 6+ years of ServiceNow Development experience, 3 of them must be related to the implementation of Discovery and development on Discovery
  • ServiceNow Platform: Deep experience with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB, MID servers and CSDM. Desirable: Service Mapping & Software Asset Management
  • IT Infrastructure: Understanding of IT infrastructure topologies, including servers (Windows/Linux), networks, and applications
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud resource discovery and management with Azure and GCP
  • Scripting and APIs: strong knowledge and hands-on experience on JavaScript and REST/SOAP/APIs. Desirable knowledge of Powershell, SQL, Python, etc
  • Networking and Security: Knowledge of authentication, user policies, and permissions to ensure secure access for discovery probes, sensors and patterns.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex discovery issues
  • ITIL Framework: Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially the ones related to Configuration Management
  • Interpersonal skills: capable of leading technical meetings, and be able to communicate complex technical matters to executives in a way that can be understood in a simple way
  • Language skills: be able to properly communicate in English
