Summary of the position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Real Estate Development, the Store Planning and Design Specialist is responsible for the creation and execution of merchandise layouts, fixture designs, and architectural finishes for new and remodel projects across our retail stores. The Designer will support multiple banners ensuring each store reflects its brand identity while maintaining operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and exceptional organizational skills to manage a high volume of concurrent projects in a fast-paced retail setting.

Your mission at Groupe Legault:

  • Develop comprehensive store layouts that optimize merchandise presentation, are aligned with brand identity, and create exceptional customer experience across multiple retail banners.
  • Produce detailed construction documents and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
  • Create 3D renderings and visual presentations to communicate design intent to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Develop innovate new design elements, evolving the design for fixtures and architectural elements, ensuring alignment with brand standards and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, operations, marketing, construction, and real estate.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Hire & manage external technical experts (designers, architects, engineers, etc) required to achieve the required design for each store
  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with vendors as needed
  • Stay current with retail design trends, materials, and technologies relevant to pet retail environments.

Profile sought:

  • Bachelor's or college degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in retail design, preferably in specialty or pet retail
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, Enscape).
  • Familiarity with retail merchandising principles.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and building materials.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English, with a collaborative approach to lead projects.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, and access to a car to travel to various required sites in Quebec and Ontario.
