Site Description: Halifax Stanfield is Atlantic Canada's principal full-service airport providing passengers and cargo clients with direct access to markets across Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean Basin, Europe, and Asia. Halifax Stanfield offers Canada Customs services on a 24-hour, seven day a week basis, and it's the only airport in Atlantic Canada with U.S. preclearance and International to Domestic processing facilities.

Position:  Airport Security Officer (ACO)
Site: Halifax Airport (HIAA)
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: Continental Rotation /
Payrate: $21.65
Posting Date: March 3, 2025
Internal Closing Date: June 30, 2025
External Closing Date: June 30, 2025

Schedule Example:

4 days on (2 days on day shift/2 days on night shift), 4 days off

Key Responsibilities:

As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main Security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. You will ensure the safety & security of all passengers, workers and flight personnel by monitoring the Primary Security Line or PSL at various gates and access points. You will ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the restricted areas beyond the PSL. 

Other duties include: 

24/7 Monitoring the terminal areas, perimeter for safety concerns and suspicious behaviors. Ensuring all tenants and guests are adhering to the regulations laid out by Transport Canada. Performing regular patrols of airport facilities to ensure security and safety measures are upheld.Conducting routine safety checks throughout the property. Responding to emergency situations and acting as incident commander until relieved by first responders is a crucial responsibility associated with this position. Detecting, responding and managing emergencies as directed by the Security Operations Centre (SOC)

 Positions Require:

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure.Discretion when handling confidential and private information.Ability to pass a security clearance and hold a RAIC Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.Flexible availability including weekends and overnight shifts, schedule of 06:00-18:00/18:00-06:00Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma.Must have reliable transportation to the airport.Must have a valid Driver's License with min 3 years of driving experience.Must have valid First Aid & CPR/AED certificate (Online First Aid/CPR certificate not accepted)
