Job Summary:
The Associate Manager, Market Development & Planning (MDP) serves as a supporting voice of the Home & Commercial expert. The Home & Commercial business in Canada is a $160M USD business for Newell Brands and includes the Rubbermaid Kitchen, Sistema, Oster, Sunbeam, Crockpot, Mr. Coffee, Bernardin, Ball, Foodsaver, Yankee Candle and Rubbermaid Commercial brands.
Reporting to the Manager, Market Development & Planning, the Associate Manager partners with cross-functional teams to develop category and customer strategies that drive segment growth and profitability. This role uses syndicated data, brand priorities, and consumer insights to shape category and customer plans, serving as the link between Segment Marketing and Sales. Responsibilities include leading marketplace strategy for assigned categories/brands and applying business expertise to deliver growth and market share gains.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to create GTM category stories and customer playbooks.Build understanding of customer and channel insights, including dynamics across formats.Act as the voice of the customer internally and represent the company externally to align objectives.Develop assortment principles for all retail formats to grow share and profitability.Support creation of customer-specific promotions, including items, programs, and displays.Contribute to annual category planning, including sales forecasting and identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities.Assist in managing customer P&L, trade funding, and tracking profit goals.Help develop pricing strategies with the segment team and prepare Sales for execution and negotiation.Conduct financial analysis on price exceptions and ITN investments outside standard guardrails.Participate in S&OP cycles, including Customer Business Reviews and Demand Reviews, to improve forecast accuracy.Monitor marketplace POS and seasonal trends liaising with sales teams to ensure best-in-class execution.Key Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
Financial Acumen, with demonstrated results of consistent P&L management and delivery.Basic understanding of brand and category management.Ability to translate market knowledge and insights.Understanding of storytelling and developing selling stories.Category knowledge and ability to translate insights into action plans.Strong presentation and communication skills.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.2+ years in market planning, brand management, or related roles.Canadian retail customer knowledge is a plus.Understanding of syndicated POS and Panel data.Demonstrated ability to partner with multiple teams in a matrixed organization is a plus.The Ontario base pay range for this position is from $88,550- $108,200. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
