The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Camp Leader who will be responsible to provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Camp programs and take on more responsibilities than the counsellors. This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the club.

Primary Responsibilities

Be available to work for all 9 weeks of summer campExpress drop off between 8:50 am – 9:05am ensuring safe check in and outMaintain professionalismBe motivated and have high energy throughout the dayLearning best practices for teaching camp activities, including working with campers with special needs, using inclusive teaching methods, and general camp managementTake attendance before and after each transiting to ensure all campers are accounted forModel good behaviour for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulnessDevelop age-appropriate weekly program plans to be implemented on a daily basis Lead and support campers as they participate in age-appropriate activitiesMonitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidentsReporting and recording details of accidents or incidentsParticipant in regular staff meetingsParticipant in training session prior to the start of campBe able to enter the swimming pool shallow end everyday with campersWork with other camp counsellor to plan and coordinate camp eventsProvide an engaging, stimulating, and safe environment for campers to participant inEnsure First Aid Kit is up to date and with group at all timesProvide parents with positive feedback of their child's dayMake sure area is cleaned at the end of each class and at the end of the dayClean areas at the end of the activityEnsure children eat their lunch and snack and sit with themModel positive eating habits and encourage recyclingCreatively develop crafts and ideas for games to follow weekly themesDress up on dress up daysEnsure questions and concerns from parents are noted to the supervisorParticipate in non-instructional activities with children such as swimming, sports, tennis, etc. and encourage participation in these activitiesAdministrative tasks such as keeping accurate attendance lists and turning them in to the Camp Supervisors at the end of each weekPost weekly program plans and ensure changes are communicated to parentsDevelop a detailed weekly schedule with team and distribute to front door, Camp Supervisors and KidZone/HubBe aware of all the information on medical forms such as alternate pick up people, allergies, and emergency contacts. Keep this information with you at all timesProvide feedback to your team as necessary Delegate specific tasks to counsellors in their groupBe on time for shift and ensure you have all materials for the day ready 15 minutes prior to the start of campOther duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid RequiredA responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for childrenExperience working with pre-school aged children would be considered an assetPrevious experience as a camp counsellor and supervisor an assetPrevious experience with one of the following: Art, Drama, Science, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Dance, French, Tennis, Squash, and Badminton is an assetRequired to work weekends, weekdays and/or holidays, AM and PM
