Smythe LLP is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager to join our Audit Group. This leadership position is ideal for a forward-thinking CPA who is passionate about assurance excellence, client advisory, and team development. As a senior member of our management team, you'll work directly with clients, Partners, and firm leadership to deliver high-impact assurance services to publicly listed companies while helping to shape the direction of the practice.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Manager, you will lead complex audit and assurance engagements for our private entities clients, oversee high-performing teams, and deliver insightful guidance that supports clients' continuous disclosure requirements and growth objectives. You will also play a strategic role in mentoring upcoming leaders, contributing to practice innovation, and advancing firm goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee assurance and advisory engagements for private entities clients across a variety of industries.
• Strategically manage audit risk, timelines, and deliverables across multiple engagements.
• Review and sign off on financial statements
• Partner with firm leadership on client acquisition, retention, and expansion opportunities.
• Actively contribute to thought leadership and continuous improvement within the assurance practice.
• Coach and mentor Managers, Senior Associates, and junior staff, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.
• Represent Smythe in external networks and professional communities.

What You Bring

• CPA, CA designation with a minimum of 7+ years in public practice, including 3+ years in a management capacity focused on private companies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex engagements with attention to quality, deadlines, and regulatory compliance.
• Deep technical expertise in private entities reporting (ASPE) and assurance standards
• Understanding of taxation systems in Canada
• Proven business development and client relationship management skills.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — trusted advisor to both clients and colleagues.
• A growth-oriented mindset and ability to navigate change in a fast-paced environment.
