Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishing coats to surfaces, ensuring smooth and even finishes on walls, ceilings, and other structures. This role requires a strong understanding of construction painting techniques, blueprint reading, and related carpentry skills. The Taper will work closely with project managers and other trades to deliver high-quality results on time and within specifications.

Duties

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas as needed before applying finishes
  • Apply joint compound, plaster, or other finishing materials to walls and ceilings using taping tools and hand tools
  • Ensure smooth, seamless finishes by sanding and finishing joints for a polished appearance
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and project requirements
  • Coordinate with carpenters and other trades to ensure proper surface preparation and finishing processes
  • Perform caulking around joints, seams, and fixtures to achieve airtight and watertight finishes
  • Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris properly
  • Assist with minor maintenance person tasks as needed to support overall project progress

Experience

  • Prior experience in construction painting or drywall taping is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of construction processes, carpentry, and blueprint reading is essential
  • Hands-on experience with caulking, patching, and finishing surfaces required
  • Familiarity with maintenance person tasks related to building maintenance or repairs is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Previous experience with construction projects involving drywall finishing or plastering is advantageous

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
