Cook/Chef (in childcare facility)

This position is a 12- month full-time cook at our one of our multiple bambini location.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for the health and safety of the kitchen and children
  • Be able to communicate with educators on diet/allergies and ingredients
  • Follow allergy and dietary restrictions and offer alternatives for the meals
  • Prepare breakfast/snacks/lunches as per the menu provided
  • Serve food to the classrooms promptly for teachers to serve to children
  • Clean the kitchen, and dishes and store food safely and properly daily
  • Create a weekly grocery list based on the menu plan (4-week menu already planned)
  • Assist the centre in cooking duties for monthly events/PD days etc.
  • Attend staff meetings once a month

Please note: This job is a solo position in the kitchen cooking and cleaning for 160+ children each day. It's a fast-paced environment, being good with time management skills is a must.

Requirement:

· Alberta approved Food Handling & Safety Certificate

Can obtain after employment or having prior is an asset:

  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Police clearance with vulnerable sector check within the last 6 months
  • Early Childhood Certification (Level 1) would be an asset, not a requirement

Job Types: Permanent full-time

Salary: $18.00+ per hour

Benefits: after 3 months of employment through AB Blue Cross

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift ( typically 7:30 to 4:30 with 1-hour break)
  • The location hours are 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Cooking in a childcare facility - 1 year (preferred)
  • Working in a fast paced environment (solo)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
