HOURS OF WORK: Part-time 90 day contract (21 hrs/week) with chance for extension.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Responsibilities include the provision of individual and group case management and counselling. Working from a Trauma informed, strengths-based, feminist and empowerment perspective, the Family Court Support Worker conducts assessments, provides support navigating the Family Court System, develops safety plans, and provides a range of clinical interventions. The Family Court Support Worker makes referrals to community agencies/resources as required and provides outreach services as needed. Family Court Support is 21 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· B.A./SSW or equivalent post secondary education

· Bilingual (French-English) is preferred.

· Successful Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check is required.

· Membership in a related professional association is required and must be maintained

Experience

· One to three years of clinical experience would be an asset.

· Familiarity with the Family Court System and the Child and Family Services Act.

· Familiarity with the theoretical and conceptual foundations, which inform work done in the field of domestic violence (VAW), and with their application to individual and group counselling.

· Familiarity with a variety of clinical interventions; including the integration of a feminist perspective in counselling, Client-Centred and Brief Solution Focused Counselling Models.

· Knowledge of and experience with community stakeholders in KFLA involved working with domestic violence.
