Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Backhoe Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and other machinery to support various construction projects. This role requires mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy equipment operation, and a strong focus on safety and efficiency. The Backhoe Operator will play a vital part in excavation, grading, paving, and other site preparation activities to ensure project success.

Duties

  • Operate backhoes and related heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and horizontal drilling machinery to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and paving tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
  • Assist with site preparation by moving earth, gravel, and other materials efficiently.
  • Support construction activities such as paving and grading by accurately following project specifications.
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs when necessary.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and team members.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other team members to complete tasks on schedule.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and related machinery.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred or required depending on project needs.
  • Experience with horizontal drilling and paving is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks involving lifting, bending, and operating machinery for long hours.
  • Prior experience with Caterpillar equipment or similar brands is advantageous. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction projects utilizing advanced heavy machinery while contributing to the successful completion of infrastructure development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
