Senior Accountant

At HyLand, your work has a meaningful impact. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the mission of our shareholder, MCC BC—a global charitable organization serving communities in BC, across Canada, and around the world. We oversee the daily management and development of a diverse portfolio of multi-family rental properties. This full-time, in-office role is based at our newly renovated location in Abbotsford, B.C.

Duties:

Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will work well in a fast‑paced, paperless environment as part of a finance team that is technologically driven.Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Preparation of month end and year end financial statements and analytical procedures including assisting our external accounting firm at year end
  • Full G/L entries, reconciliations and financial analysis for various companies in the Group
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations for various bank accounts
  • Balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
  • Month-end journal entries and processes
  • Preparation and filing of GST & WorkSafe returns
  • Payroll processing
  • Preparation of Lender Reporting packages
  • Support other departments with their enquiries
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Controller and/or CFO

Required Qualifications:

  • Business degree with a major in accounting preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-company environment
  • Experience with Yardi Property Management software and/or property management/property development industry experience an asset
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage a high workload with excellent time management
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of personal responsibility and reliability
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team
