Position Overview

Client is seeking an experienced
Azure DevOps/Cloud Engineer
to design, implement, and manage DevOps processes for cloud-native applications deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The successful candidate will lead the development of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and cloud operational excellence in a highly collaborative environment. This role is critical in ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable delivery of government applications and services.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in
    Azure
    and
    Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    .
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as
    Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD
    .
  • Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration, and Helm.
  • Strong experience with Terraform or ARM for infrastructure automation.
  • Demonstrated scripting skills in
    Bash, Power Shell, or Python
    .
  • Proficiency in Git, version control best practices, and DevOps workflow management.
  • Experience with Azure monitoring and logging tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong understanding of Azure Virtual Networks, AAD, Load Balancers, Storage, and related services.
  • Knowledge of container security, network security, and Kubernetes RBAC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Knowledge of Blue-Green and Canary deployments.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio).
  • Familiarity with Azure Key Vault, Azure Policy, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with serverless or event-driven Azure architectures.

Nice to have

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of cloud-native applications on Azure and AKS.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes-based applications, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and security within AKS.
  • Develop and maintain Helm charts, pipeline scripts, and automation workflows to support application packaging and deployment.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to integrate DevOps practices throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Monitor application and cloud infrastructure performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Troubleshoot deployment and operational issues to ensure system stability and high availability.
  • Implement container security best practices, RBAC, and continuous security scanning within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage Azure cloud resources including AAD, VNets, Load Balancers, Storage, and related services.
  • Support continuous optimization of cloud costs, performance, and resource utilization.
  • Automate testing, quality checks, and compliance activities within deployment pipelines.
