Job Summary

Centre Electric & Technology is seeking a skilled and dedicated Foreman to join our growing Electrical Division. This vital leadership role requires a highly experienced electrician with strong supervisory skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality electrical installations on time and within safety standards.

As a senior leader on the job site, the Foreman will oversee the electrical installation process from start to finish, ensuring seamless project coordination, efficient material management, and effective communication with clients and team members. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between field crews and management, resolving on-site challenges, and mentoring both Lead Hands and apprentices. With a deep understanding of electrical systems, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and a strong focus on organization and team leadership, the Foreman will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are completed safely, on budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Your role as A Foreman in electrical construction will require you to manage electrical construction projects from start to finish, working closely with the Project Manager(s) and Project Coordinator(s). You will be supervising sub-foremen and lead hands on your assigned projects. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • This position is full-time with the requirement of working a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. In some instances, there will be the requirement to work outside of these hours, and any overtime work will be paid as per BC labor laws.

  • Project Oversight: Oversee electrical construction projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with safety standards, project timelines, and client expectations.

  • Team Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the activities of electricians, helpers, and other construction workers on-site.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all electrical installations meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for project execution.

  • Schedule Management: Maintain and update project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and avoiding delays.

  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues immediately.

  • Collaboration: Work in collaboration with Project Managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project specifications are met.

  • Material and Equipment Management: Coordinate material and equipment orders, deliveries, and inventory on the job site.

  • Inspections and Approvals: Ensure that all installations are inspected, approved, and meet performance and safety standards.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and associated work order information. Assist with compiling and maintaining project logs (Change Order, Material Logs, RFI logs).

  • Safety Protocols: Conduct safety meetings and ensure all safety protocols are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Project Close-Out: Assist with project close-out procedures, including the completion of necessary documentation, such as Operation & Maintenance manuals, warranty letters, and other documentation required by the owner or General Contractor.

  • Municipal Coordination: Schedule and coordinate all necessary inspections by municipal authorities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Journeyperson is required for this position.
  • Previous experience of 2+ years as a Foreman in the commercial electrical sector is considered a strong asset.
  • Successful completion of the fourth year of electrical apprenticeship training, with preference given to candidates who have also passed the Red Seal Certification exam.
  • Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of electrical systems, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), safety standards, and building regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently and safely.
  • Attention to Detail: A Foreman must ensure that all installations are up to code, safe, and functional, which requires precision and thoroughness in all aspects of their work.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
