Sustainability Operations Specialist
.

This is an opportunity to be a key member of the Commercial Operations team and provide support to Operational Excellence group to help grow business while ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of energy to customers. You will lead projects to enhance capacity to cost-effectively deliver low-carbon district heating and cooling services. You will work cross-functionally and advance initiatives to support the ability to measure, track, and forecast energy and carbon metrics, improve GHG accounting system and initiate improvements in effectiveness of sustainability metrics reporting, perform data analysis and enhance energy systems performance management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead or support internal sustainability initiatives including GHG accounting framework (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions), low-carbon thermal energy offering, production and inventory accounting, energy transition studies
  • Lead performance management and reporting initiatives for stakeholders, including KPI streamlining and dashboards to track sustainability performance and areas of improvement
  • Manage sustainability reporting processes and ensure program compliance for both internal governance, including monthly and annual GHG reporting, and external reporting such as EPS, NPIR, and other regulatory obligations
  • Analyze data using a variety of tools and communicate via reports and presentations to internal and external customers, stakeholders, executives
  • Develop energy efficiency and carbon intensity customer reports
  • Support performance and reporting process development and optimization and digital conversion of systems
  • Collaborate with team members on environmental performance initiatives

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in thermal energy systems, project management, GHG accounting and sustainability reporting
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical) preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Advanced data analytical skills with strong Excel proficiency and ability to manage large volumes of energy data and convert into usable formats and ability to automate data collection and management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver complex information to senior-level leaders in a clear, succinct and compelling manner
  • Sustainability subject matter expert, including low-carbon thermal energy systems, GHG accounting, sustainability standards, and familiarity with GHG Protocol (experience with TCFD and SASB standards desired)
  • Technical background in thermal energy systems with district energy system or centralized cooling and heating systems highly desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, working in a team and with various individuals
  • Ability to grasp complex systems and develop, communicate, and delivery of effective optimization projects
  • Sustainability or Energy Modeling/Management accreditation or specialized training (e.g. LEED AP, CEM, MS in Sustainability, etc.) highly desired
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a high level of adaptability
  • Self-motivated professional
