Established to support Canadian forestry workers and their families, the IWA–Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans provide pension and disability benefits and rehabilitation services to members. The plans are jointly trusted by union and industry appointees.

WHO YOU ARE

The Pension Specialist (temporary full time – 20 months), as senior administrative member of the Pension Department, provides information of a complex or sensitive nature to Plan members. Issues may involve communicating details of Plan text provisions, marriage breakdowns divisions, benefit calculations or other areas requiring thorough knowledge of the Plan and applicable legislation.

You will be responsible for such things as:

  • Return to work calculations,
  • Marriage breakdowns which include interpret and execute Court Orders for accurate division of payments upon marriage breakdowns,
  • Education sessions to Plan Members through seminars at sites across the province and webinars,
  • Review and authorize the set-up of new benefits,
  • Research and verify that information contained in members files is accurate and correct.

YOU HAVE/ARE

  • Must have a degree in a related field, a CEBS designation plus seven years of experience in pension or retirement plan administration in a fast-paced environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and visual communication skills with the ability to present in front of large groups of members with clarity and engagement.
  • A high degree of initiative, work ethic, integrity, and honesty in analyzing, troubleshooting, and evaluating member matters is essential, together with a customer service focus and a professional and respectful approach.
  • Must display good judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential member situations and keeping sensitive business data secure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and effectively deal with changing situations or priorities.
  • Strong team player and self-motivated towards providing prompt, friendly, and attentive support to train staff.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range is $5,480 to $6,263 per month.

This union position is part of Move-Up.
