Purpose of Job:
At Scotia Wealth Management, financial planning is more than a service – it's a strategic approach to helping our clients achieve their goals while driving business results. The Financial Planning Practice Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver this value. The Financial Planning Practice Lead is responsible for enhancing the client and Advisor experience by championing best-in-class financial planning practices. You will lead initiatives that support continuous improvement, provide expert coaching and training, and empower Advisors and Leaders to deliver exceptional financial planning services.
Major Accountabilities:
- Work closely with the Senior Manager – Financial Planning Operations and Execution, and other members of the Practice Excellence team, to develop and implement enterprise-wide financial planning initiatives and tools for Advisors that support exceptional client value and experience, business growth and sales effectiveness.
- Contribute to the design, development and delivery of field-delivered training curriculums that support the continuous professional growth and capability of Advisors.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including leadership, to support the coaching and mentoring of advisors across all facets of the financial planning process, fostering skill development and consistent planning excellence.
- Support the onboarding and training of new Advisors to effectively utilize the planning software, and follow financial planning practice standards, to deliver high quality financial plans to clients.
- Act as a trusted resource for Advisors by providing responsive support on financial planning matters, while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance effectiveness.
- Identify, document, and promote financial planning best practices to ensure consistency and excellence across Scotia Wealth.
- Analyze trends in Advisor needs to develop scalable solutions and foster continuous improvement in planning practices.
- Review and assess the quality of financial plans created by Advisors to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Adjust focus of reviews as business needs and industry standards evolve.
- Uphold and promote adherence to professional standards, including internal polices, procedures, and industry best practices related to financial planning and client engagement. Ensure all activities reflect Scotiabank's risk appetite.

Education/Work Experience/Designations:
- Demonstrated experience as a financial planner and/or client-facing Advisor.
- University degree in business, commerce or equivalent experience related to the practice of financial planning.
- Completion of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or the equivalent IQPF designation for Quebec residents.
- Proven track record of training and coaching.
- Ability to work non-standard hours.
- Ability to travel.
Functional Competencies:
- Strong Presentation skills particularly related to financial matters. The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work as part of an interdependent team and individually when required. Works well with autonomy and is an excellent communicator in a modern, flexible work environment.
- Proven skills and experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, peers, client facing advisors, leadership, and senior management.
- Superior time management and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Working Conditions:
- Office location: Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal
- Planned business travel may be required
