Insight Global is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to join a large maritime shipping company.The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller to prepare consolidated financial statements and will be responsible for month-end close and ensuring adherence to maintaining a strong internal control environment. Key functions of this role will include preparing notes to the Financial Statements and reviewing period end deliverables from Finance Operations. There will be upcoming finance transformation projects where technology, automation tools, and data analytics will be leveraged to increase efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze working papers and journal entries prepared by Finance Operations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting policies
  • Assist in the preparation of notes to consolidated financial statements and working papers for MD&A disclosure in quarterly 6K and annual 20-F
  • Prepare / review audit working papers and fields queries from external and internal auditors
  • Review and manage annual and quarterly financial statements for non-public stand-alone entities
  • Assist with finance transformation projects to optimize the financial close and reporting processes by leveraging best practices and technology
  • Assist in resolving complex accounting reconciliations
  • Assist with review, analysis, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Analyze end-to-end process performance by understanding workflow designs and translating complex data sets into strategic insights to drive process optimization
  • Provide training to new staff or Finance Operations team as required
  • Work on special projects and ad-hoc work assignments as required

Requirements:

5+years of accounting experience including

2+ years in industry

Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Experience with foreign currency transactions and intercompany transactions

Understanding and experience with applied internal controls and process redevelopment

Ability to create and manage professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders as a pivotal point of contact between Accounting and the rest of the organization.

General understanding of corporate structures and business concepts

Strong communication skills to lead and coach

Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution

Additional Desired Qualifications:

Certified in a recognized professional accounting membership (e.g. CPA)

Some experience with multiple office organizationFamiliar with financial ERP systems software (e.g. NetSuite)
