Schedule: Overnight Friday and Saturdays from 11:00pm to 7:00am

Reporting to the Director of Guest Services, the Hotel Security Officer has the following key responsibilities within the organization:

  • Patrol interior and exterior areas of the hotel, including guest floors, parking lots and public spaces
  • Monitor security cameras, alarms and key control systems
  • Respond to disturbances, suspicious activity and emergencies in accordance with hotel policy
  • Write detailed incident reports and submit them to management
  • Escort guests or employees as needed for safety
  • Enforce hotel policies, including no-smoking and quiet hours
  • Work closely with the front desk, night audit and management to maintain a secure environment
  • Assist local law enforcement or emergency services when required
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Perform safety inspections (ex . fire exits, lighting, locks) and report maintenance issues

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Previous security, military or law enforcement experience preferred
  • Valid security license (where required by local regulations)
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Basic report-writing and computer skills
  • Physically fit, able to stand, walk and patrol for extended periods

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies
