Ocean Capital has an immediate opening for a
Senior Tax Analyst
at our Saint John, NB location. The opportunity involves working independently, and with other members of the tax team, to support management teams for the various companies in our group. Working closely with our advisors, the tax team is responsible for planning and compliance activities in Canada and the US, for corporations, partnerships, and trusts.

  • Participating in regularly scheduled planning activities with external advisors and senior executives as required
  • Preparing and filing corporate tax returns
  • Preparing year-end tax provision entries and tax related notes to the financial statements
  • Providing guidance and reviewing the work of other team members
  • Providing guidance to accountants as they prepare monthly tax provisions
  • Preparing and filing trust returns
  • Preparing & filing of HST returns
  • Preparing and filing a number of tax related annual returns/forms
  • Working with corporate controllers to establish & monitor appropriate monthly income tax installments
  • Assist in the evolution of tax related processes, including: Responding to questions from accounting, with a focus on developing their knowledge of corporate tax and HST and taking a lead role in the use of the Fund Count software with a focus on efficiencies as a result of previous manual processes being automated

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant Designation, or equivalent
  • Actively pursuing or considering pursuing CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course
  • Previous experience in tax or accounting roles
  • Experience with Taxprep software
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of Products, with high proficiency in excel
  • Adaptable and flexible team player
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Understand and appreciate the need for confidentiality
  • Experience with corporate enterprise resource planning systems
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels within the organization as evidenced by success in working collaboratively with others to effectively coordinate activities to accomplish goals
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks
