Manager, National Strategic Accounts

About the Role

The Manager, National Strategic Accounts plays a critical role in executing Petcurean's Canadian Sales Strategy by leading and growing national retail chain partnerships across Canada. This role is accountable for delivering sustainable sales growth through consultative selling, strategic account planning, and disciplined budget management, while ensuring alignment with brand strategy and organizational priorities. With a focus on long-term partnership development, the Manager identifies and implements growth opportunities that create mutual value for Petcurean and its customers. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, commercial acumen, and the ability to navigate complex account relationships in a dynamic environment. This role will require the ability to travel in North America, as needed.

The Manager, National Strategic Accounts will report directly to the Director of Sales, Canada, and will have strong working relationship the Sales and Marketing teams.

Given the scope of national and Quebec based retail partners,
fluency in both French and English is considered a very strong asset
and will be highly valued in building relationships, leading negotiations, and supporting long term account growth.

What You Will Do

National Account Leadership

  • Lead the development and growth of national and large chain retail accounts across Canada, aligned with the Canadian sales strategy
  • Build and execute account specific growth plans across key retail banners, including Quebec based partners
  • Lead strategic business reviews and joint planning sessions with national and regional partners
  • Identify opportunities to optimize performance, improve execution, and drive long term growth
  • Partner closely with Field Marketing to deliver chain specific marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with Territory Sales Managers through regular field engagement to support execution at store and regional levels
  • Build strong internal alignment across Marketing, Customer Service, Transportation, and Warehouse teams

Strategy, Reporting, and Financial Management

  • Contribute to annual business planning through market research, data analysis, and industry insights
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities across eCommerce, omni channel, and emerging channels
  • Manage national account budgets with a strong focus on planning, tracking, and ROI
  • Share market trends, competitive insights, and performance updates with sales leadership
  • Support ongoing improvement of sales processes and systems
  • Maintain strong industry and product knowledge through continuous learning and industry engagement

People Leadership

  • Provide coaching, direction, and performance oversight to support team development and accountability
  • Lead by example with a hands on, solutions oriented approach

What You Bring

  • 5 plus years of key account or national account sales experience within CPG or a related industry
  • 2 plus years of experience leading, influencing, or mentoring others, formal people management experience considered an asset
  • Bilingual French and English, considered a very strong asset for success in this role (Conversational level or above)
  • Proven ability to drive sales growth and manage complex customer relationships
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and trade spend management
  • Experience negotiating contracts and closing national or large scale agreements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field considered an asset
  • Comfortable working remotely and traveling across North America as needed
