The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. With at least five years of hands-on experience in setting up, program editing, and operating CNC lathes and mills, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality, precision parts for our product line. This is an opportunity to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to continuous process improvements in a dynamic shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to plan the best sequence of operations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain various CNC machine tools, including lathes and mills, for precision machining operations.
- Program editing (using G-code and M-code) as needed to meet tight tolerances and surface finish specifications.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Required Qualifications and Skills (Must-Haves)
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a CNC Machinist, specifically with both lathe and milling operations.
- Proven proficiency in setting up machines and editing or creating programs (e.g., using Fanuc, Haas).
- Strong ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Completion of a formal machinist apprenticeship program or a relevant technical college diploma.
- Experience with manual machining tools (grinders, drill presses, etc.).
