We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Machinist to join our manufacturing team.
The Position
We are looking for a Senior Machinist or Toolmaker who enjoys seeing a project from beginning to end, from design conception through making the parts to assembling and testing the prototype.
You will be involved in designing parts with science and CAD team, developing machining and fixturing strategies for new parts, generating G-Code using MasterCAM, editing G-Code as needed, building fixtures, making parts and assembling prototypes. You will use manual and CNC vertical mills and lathes and includes the loading, unloading, and inspecting of parts, documenting part geometries, and the subsequent assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototypes.
We are looking for two full time staff who will start at $35 to $39 per hour at our Hampton location and have approximately 5 weeks holidays each year plus statutory holidays (once accrued).
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Produce high quality parts and assemble prototypes and short runs.
· Working from CAD/CAM files, engineering drawings, sketches and or verbal instructions to perform highly diversified CNC and manual machining operations to specifications.
· Building and editing semi-complex programs using CAD/CAM systems and machine controllers.
· Assisting in training workforce in proper setup and use of equipment/systems.
· Correcting any inadequacies in prints, materials and route sheets.
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models created in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
· Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other hand tools to ensure parts meet specifications.
· Maintaining high standards related to work procedures and tool/machine maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements
· 5+ years of CNC machinist background and at least 2 year of manual machining experience
· Ability to read, understand, and program in G-Code format.
· A knowledge of Haas equipment is a major asset.
· Knowledge of and experience with MasterCAM X is a major asset.
· Able to display skills in manufacturing processes, including operating, maintaining and cleaning automated equipment.
· Maintaining accurate records and data.
· Display strong technical, interpersonal and analytical skills.
· Knowledge of machine shop practices, elementary mechanics, machining methods, cutting qualities of materials, proper speeds and feeds.
· Experience with machining of aluminum, steels and plastics of various grades and hardness.
· Ability to work to +/-.0005".
· Ability to use a computer, to work from complicated drawings and/or verbal communication in the assembly of components.
· Basic knowledge of MS Office.
· Use basic hand and power tools.
· Lift 50 pounds by bending and stooping; climb, stand, and move around on stairs, ladders and platforms; twist, turn and bend.
· Stand on concrete floors for an extended period of time.
Other Information
You will primarily work at the Hampton, Ontario Canada location.
This is a NEW position.
You must have your own reliable transportation as there is no public transit in our area.
Any needed PPE is provided by the employer.
