Mechanical Project Manager
to their team.
The
Project Manager
is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of mechanical projects. They will work collaboratively with internal and external teams and stakeholders to uphold the quality and safety standard the company is known for.
Here's What You'll Do
- Participate in all pre-construction activities, including pre-bid and on-site meetings, supporting the tendering construction phases of the project ensuring all aspects are effectively coordinated and completed within scheduled the scheduled timeline and specs, at or under budget.
- Analyze bid proposals; develop and prepare detailed quotations, project schedules, and estimates.
- Plan, execute, and coordinate work plans for assigned projects and revise as needed to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Obtain and execute all necessary permits and licenses to continue with the project.
- Obtain approval from the estimating team and the Manager of the division before incurring any extra costs during the project.
- Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls.
- Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the project to all stakeholders.
- Manage project budget and employee hours.
- Manage the project team to ensure requirements for document control, change order process, coordination of equipment and material deliveries, site meetings and progress documentation are adhered to.
- Negotiate and issue subcontractors and major purchase orders and monitor their progress in relation to their schedule. Lead/support any negotiations of claims/disputes with subcontractors.
- Work with finance department in understanding cost and estimate analysis reporting, and allocation of costs.
- Follow up on unpaid invoices.
- Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors.
- Ensure subcontractors have completed and submitted the subcontractor's safety package.
- Ensure paperwork for project completion is current, organized and completed (close out documents, contract items, etc.) and stored appropriately.
- Adhere to safety standards, ensuring that employees and subcontractors adhere to safety standards.
Here's What You'll Need To Be Successful
- Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Degree, OR relevant trade license (Gas Fitter, Steamfitter, Plumber, HVAC, Millwright)
- 1 + years of ICI project coordination/management experience related to electrical, mechanical and general construction projects including costing, planning, and scheduling.
- Solid knowledge of any relevant Construction, Building and Electrical Codes, Occupational Health and Safety standards and best practices.
- Solid knowledge of construction processes (RFI, RFQ, Change Orders, etc.).
- Strong computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Project, Word). Experience with Project Management software is an asset but can be trained.
- Proven track record of effectively and tactfully dealing with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience analyzing and understanding Architectural, Electrical and Mechanical construction drawings and experience working on commercial projects.
- Proven track record of successfully completed projects to a high quality, on time, on budget.
- Capable of reading construction/engineering drawings and schematics.
- A positive attitude, proactive and diplomatic leadership skills, a high level of professionalism, accountability and integrity.
- The ability to multitask and problem solve in a high-pressure work environment.
- Highly organized and detail oriented with a strong sense of pride in work.
- valid G class driers license with a clean driving record.
- Willing to travel to job sites as required (generally within Southwestern to KW area but could involve projects in other areas of Ontario from time to time).
