Health and Safety Coordinator

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to support and enhance our safety programs across multiple provinces. This role is key to ensuring a safe workplace, maintaining compliance with applicable legislation, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with OHSA, WSIB, WHMIS, and provincial regulations (Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia)
- Conduct routine workplace and equipment inspections with the Warehouse Supervisor to identify hazards and ensure timely corrective actions
- Investigate incidents/accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective and preventive measures
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, including training logs, inspection records, and incident summaries
- Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters across all provinces
- Coordinate and schedule job-specific training (eg. brazing, working at heights, CO2, Refrigeration, First Aid)
- Support emergency preparedness initiatives, including fire drills, first aid procedures, and evacuation planning
- Track and manage PPE, safety equipment, and tools distributed to Technicians; verify proper stocking of fleet vehicles
- Collaborate with management to promote a positive, proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and ensure follow-up on all recommendations and action items
- Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices, communicating updates promptly to the organization
- Support additional safety functions such as PPE clothing programs, fleet/vehicle safety, customer portals, and training setup
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in a health and safety role
- Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and training skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certifications (or willingness to obtain)
