The school has a population of approximately 210 students in a 6-8 setting with a staff of 23. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.Required qualifications:Bachelor of Education degree or pending degreeTeaching certification acceptable for Nunavut Teaching CertificateIn the event that this competition becomes an open until filled posting, this position may be offered as a one year term under Letter of Authority.Desired qualifications:Experience and / or training with current assessment methodsEvidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practicesExperience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experienceEvidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced LiteracyTraining and / or teaching experience in an ESL environmentEvidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholdersPlease note: Government housing will not be provided.Salary and Nunavut Northern Allowance: The salary for certified applicants ranges from $91,171 prorated/annum to $141,955 prorated/annum and the salary for uncertified applicants starts at $75,928.
