Indigenous Works (IW) is the incorporated name of the entity with three divisions described below:
Division 1: Indigenous Works Human Resource Development (IW HRD) focuses on Indigenous employment and workplace inclusion through membership programs,
consulting services, cultural competency training, workplace diagnostics and system
reviews, that help organizations improve their workplace and inclusion performance and outcomes.
Division 2: Kocihta, our national Indigenous charity committed to increasing the human resource and career potential of Indigenous youth including persons with disabilities.
Division 3: Luminary serves as a bridge connecting Indigenous businesses and
communities, post-secondary institutions, industry, and research agencies, to co-create new research and innovation collaborations that drive economic transformation,
employment, and wellbeing.
Position Overview
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations. This role supports budgeting, financial reporting, audit preparation, and day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to the mission and values of the organization
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting
· Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts monthly.
· Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
· Prepare financial reports for funders, donors, and board meetings.
· Quarterly GST Filings
Accounts Payable & Receivable
· Process invoices, payments, and expense travel reimbursements.
· Invoice customers, Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
· Ensure accurate allocation of revenues and expenses to appropriate programs or funds.
Payroll & Benefits
· Process bi-weekly payroll, remittances, and year-end T4 slips and T4A.
· Ensure compliance with CRA and provincial regulations regarding payroll and employment standards.
Audit & Compliance
· Prepare documentation and schedules for annual audit.
· Liaise with external auditors and provide required information.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including CRA filings (e.g., T3010 Charity Return).
MiscellaneousHelp with general office administration work when neededQualificationsRequired
· Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience including Payroll processing
· Knowledge of ASNPO, CRA charity regulations, and fund accounting.
· Proficient with accounting software i.e. QuickBooks
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions
· Employment Type: Full-time
· Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday).
· Vacation: 3 weeks' paid vacation
· Probationary Period: 3 months
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary: $60,000–$65,000 (commensurate with experience)
· Extended health, vision, and dental benefits
· 5% RRSP employer contribution
· Three weeks' vacation plus paid sick/personal days annually

Reporting Relationships
· Reports to: Indigenous Works CFBO
· Works closely with: Senior leadership in each of the three divisions, Indigenous Works HRD, Kocihta, and Luminary; program delivery teams; and external clients and partners.
