Job Summary

The
AI Governance Project Manager (PM)
is responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization's AI governance framework. This role ensures that artificial intelligence systems are deployed
ethically, responsibly, securely, and in compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and risk-management standards
.

The AI Governance PM will work closely with business, technology, risk, legal, compliance, and data teams to align AI initiatives with organizational objectives and governance requirements, while proactively identifying and mitigating AI-related risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the
    development and implementation of AI governance frameworks
    , policies, standards, and procedures to guide ethical and responsible use of AI technologies.
  • Manage end-to-end
    AI governance projects
    , including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and reporting.
  • Coordinate
    cross-functional teams
    (Technology, Data Science, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security, and Business stakeholders) to ensure alignment with governance standards and business goals.
  • Ensure AI initiatives comply with
    regulatory requirements
    , internal risk policies, privacy laws, data protection standards, and emerging AI regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and document
    AI-related risks
    (ethical, operational, legal, security, bias, model risk, and reputational) and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain
    AI transparency, accountability, and explainability practices
    , including documentation, model governance, and decision-traceability standards.
  • Oversee governance artifacts such as
    risk assessments, model inventories, approval workflows, audit documentation, and control evidence
    .
  • Support AI lifecycle governance, including
    model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and retirement
    .
  • Act as a key liaison between
    executive leadership and delivery teams
    , providing clear status updates, risk reporting, and recommendations.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices related to
    AI ethics, governance, and responsible AI
    .

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field
    (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of project management experience
    , with demonstrated experience delivering complex technology or governance initiatives.
  • Strong experience working in
    regulated environments
    (banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Solid understanding of
    AI/ML concepts
    , data governance, model risk management, privacy, and information security principles.
  • Proven ability to manage
    cross-functional stakeholders
    and drive consensus across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong experience with
    project governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks
    .
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or supporting
    AI governance, model risk, data governance, or responsible AI programs
    .
  • Familiarity with AI-related regulations and frameworks (e.g., model risk management, ethical AI principles, emerging AI regulations).
  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile certifications preferred.
  • Experience working with
    enterprise PMO, risk, compliance, or audit teams
    .
