Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pre-registers patients for inpatient and outpatient visits.
  • Collects accommodation and insurance information and payment for services where applicable.
  • Responds to inquiries made by patients and visitors.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries and forwards calls where appropriate.
  • Liaises with patients, other department staff, and external customers.
  • Assists with other tasks as required in Admitting and other registration areas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum accurate typing speed of 40wpm required.
  • Previous data entry experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize duties, problem solve and accurately carry out detailed work in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a co-operative, facilitative and professional manner through all circumstances.
  • Must have an excellent punctuality and attendance record.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous experience in a hospital Admitting or registration department would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael's Hospital.

Hours
8 hour shifts, Monday to Friday
