As a Fitter Welder, you are responsible for welding metal components to form a final product that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, you will have experience in both fitting and welding metal components to produce high-quality fabricated products. Precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment are essential.Location: 200 Avenue road, Cambridge, ONDedicated Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 1:00am, Monday - ThursdayJob DutiesRead and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine welding requirements for prototypes and custom productsMeasure and fabricate metal components accurately using various tools and equipment, with minimal or no jigs and fixturesEnsure proper materials are selected for each job to weld together metal componentsFollow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuriesOperate lifting devices, such as cranes (overhead and/or jib), to complete large welding jobsEnsure welding machines are properly calibratedInspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specificationsRepair and rework welds as neededCommunicate with supervisors to ensure production schedules are metSkills & Experience:Experience in both fitting and welding metal componentsAdapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected eventsRequired to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawing specifications, procedures, and work instructionsAssembly welding tasks require collaboration with coworkers, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to make sound decisions when working on projects that involve multiple team membersPhysical requirements include standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending while welding for extended periods of timeExtreme temperature exposure to weather changes (heat)QualificationsExperience measuring and fabricating metal components using various tools and equipment without jigs and fixtures.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
