POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and a passion for promoting workplace safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and best practices
- Complete and submit timely and accurate customer prequalification paperwork
- Daily upkeep of prequalification websites (ISNetworld, Avetta, Complyworks, etc.) ensuring pending action items are communicated and addressed, respond to messages, provide insurance and training documents, entering accurate safety statistics, and submit written programs
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Conduct occasional site visits as the company's safety representative when required
- Coordinate safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, job-specific training, and refresher courses
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and inspections, ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements
- Collect and track Safety KPI's for all company branches and departments
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on health and safety issues, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, operations, and facilities, to address health and safety concerns and implement corrective actions
- Stay current on changes in health and safety regulations and industry best practices, providing recommendations for continuous improvement
- Assist in the development and communication of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and safety protocols
- Participate in safety committee meetings, representing the health and safety interests of employees and management
- Assist in the coordination of external audits and inspections by regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in health and safety coordination or related role
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments is preferred
HOURS OF WORK
The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm although this position will require travel and the ability to be flexible concerning working hours.
