Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Hamilton Health Sciences Full time

Performs the day to day system and operational checks, inspections, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of automated instrument washing, disinfecting, sterilizing, and other specialized hospital equipment and systems. Routinely diagnoses and repairs steam, water, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic parts, components, and equipment associated with the above-mentioned systems and equipment. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and/or updating al applicable records, drawings and schematics. Coordinates the activities of external service providers as directed. Performs other duties as may be assigned.Functions in accordance with duties defined in the job description of an Instrument Control Mechanic. May be assigned to work at any HHS site. 

Monday to Friday; days 
 

1. Must hold and maintain a current Province of Ontario Trades Certificate in a related trade
2. Steam Sterilizer Maintenance training or demonstrated equivalent practical experience in the repair and maintenance of sterilizers and associated equipment
3. Minimum of 5 years experience as a qualified tradesman
4. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems and controls
5. Demonstrated ability to use own tools and equipment of the trade
6. Must be willing to provide own hand tools of the trade
7. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in areas that are cold, hot, dusty, dirty, noisy amongst machinery, at elevated levels and cramped quarters
8. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the maintenance, repair and installation of instrument washing, disinfecting, sterilizing, and other specialized equipment, machines and systems
9. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
10. Demonstrated ability to work independently, think analytically, and with minimal supervision
11. Must be able to use the tools and equipment of the trade
12. Must be able to bend, crawl, lift heavy items and work from ladders and scaffolds
