As we grow, we're looking for another Underwriter to help us maintain excellence while scaling our volume. The Role:

As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will work behind the scenes to analyze applications, assess risk, and recommend or prepare mortgage solutions in compliance with lender policies and guidelines. You'll collaborate closely with our brokers and other underwriters to ensure files are complete, accurate, and presented professionally to lenders. We are looking for someone with solid communication skills, creative problem-solving skills and quick to deliver results.

Key Roles of an Underwriting Position:

• Taking a new mortgage file from early qualification stages, to firm approval to seeing the file through to funding.
• Customer service focused with the ability to work between the mortgage broker, lender and the client when necessary.
• Completing all conditions required with our internal mortgage brokers and external partners/lenders.
• Tracking of committed and funded business along with pipeline management and funding ratios with our lending partners.
• Communicating with our partners on a daily basis and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Communicating respectfully with our external partners, including home appraisers, lawyers, real estate agents and home builders.
• Staying informed and educated of all ongoing lending and industry guideline policy changes, RECA requirements, OFSI regulations, KYC and AML policies.
• Monitoring effective quality control and quality assurance in all applications received and committed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 year's experience in mortgage lending, mortgage brokering or underwriting.
• Experience with alternative lending, private lending and construction financing considered an asset. Licensed as an Alberta Mortgage agent is an asset but not mandatory.
• Efficient in communication, Velocity, Microsoft and Excel.
• Strong understanding of fulfilment and back-end document collection.
• Able to effectively read credit bureaus, follow direction, collaborate on mortgage originations, deal tasking and a vast understanding of all residential guidelines.
